Anagram Solver
Systematic letter analysis to find every hidden word
Systematic Analysis of Letter Combinations
Every set of letters hides a surprising number of valid words. Our anagram solver performs an exhaustive combinatorial analysis of your input, systematically evaluating every possible rearrangement against dictionary databases containing over 280,000 entries. Whether you are optimizing a Scrabble rack, breaking down a jumble puzzle, or exploring the combinatorial richness of the English language, this tool delivers complete, scored results in milliseconds.
How to Use the Anagram Solver
Enter Your Letters
Type up to 15 letters into the input field. Use # symbols for blank tiles that can represent any letter in the alphabet. More letters yield exponentially more results.
Adjust Parameters
Expand Search Options to set minimum word length, select your target dictionary (Scrabble-US, UK, WWF, or international), and choose a scoring system for point calculations.
Analyze Results
Results are grouped by point value, word length, or alphabetical order depending on your sort preference. Use filters to narrow by prefix, suffix, or required substrings.
Data-Driven Anagram Solving Strategies
- Decompose prefix/suffix patterns: UN-, RE-, PRE-, OUT-, -ING, -TION, -MENT, and -ABLE are high-frequency morphemes that combine with remaining letters to form longer, higher-scoring words
- Separate vowels from consonants: Mentally partitioning your letters into vowel and consonant groups reveals structural patterns faster. A balanced CVCVC pattern suggests common 5-letter words
- Prioritize high-value tiles: Letters like J (8pts), Q (10pts), X (8pts), and Z (10pts) appear in fewer words, so building around them narrows your search space and maximizes point efficiency
- Leverage blank tiles strategically: A blank (#) exponentially expands your solution space. Place it where high-frequency letters (E, S, T, R, A, N) would complete the most words
- Filter by minimum length: In competitive play, 7+ letter words earn bonus points in Scrabble (50-point bingo). Use the min-length filter to focus exclusively on rack-clearing opportunities
Frequently Asked Questions
What exactly is an anagram?
An anagram rearranges the letters of one word or phrase to spell another. Classic examples include LISTEN / SILENT and EARTH / HEART. Our solver goes further — it finds every valid word of any length that can be constructed from your letters, not just same-length rearrangements. This makes it equally useful for Scrabble racks, jumble puzzles, and general vocabulary exploration.
How do blank tiles (#) work?
A blank acts as a wildcard that can represent any single letter of the alphabet. Enter # wherever you want flexibility. In scored word games, blanks contribute zero points to the word's total, but they dramatically expand the number of valid words you can form. The solver tests every possible letter substitution for each blank position.
Which dictionaries are available?
Choose from Scrabble-US (TWL/NWL), Scrabble-TWL (tournament word list), Scrabble-UK (SOWPODS/Collins), Words With Friends, or international word lists for French, Italian, Romanian, and Spanish. Each dictionary determines which words count as valid, and point values adjust to match the selected scoring system.
Can I filter anagram results?
Yes. The Filter Results panel lets you require words that start with, end with, or contain specific letter sequences. You can also exclude certain letters entirely — useful when solving constrained puzzles or when you know certain letters are not available. Combine multiple filters to pinpoint exactly the words you need.
