About This Wordle Solver
WordleWonk's solver is built for analytical players who want to optimize every guess. Unlike basic helpers limited to standard 5-letter Wordle, this tool supports word lengths from 4 to 9 letters across 7 languages — covering Wordle, Lingle, Dordle, Quordle, and countless regional variants.
How to Use This Tool
- Select word length — Choose 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, or 9 from the tabs. The grid and word list adapt automatically.
- Choose your language — English uses the official 12,540-word Wordle list for 5-letter mode. Other languages and lengths pull from comprehensive dictionaries.
- Pick your mode — Quick Mode for fast lookups or Grid Mode for turn-by-turn simulation.
- Enter your clues — Green letters in exact positions, yellow for letters in the word but wrong spot, gray to exclude.
- Analyze results — Words are ranked by letter frequency. The statistically strongest guesses appear first.
- Click any word for crossword clues and definitions (5-letter English words).
Strategic Insights
- Information theory: Each guess should maximize the number of letters tested. Avoid repeating confirmed letters in early turns.
- Positional frequency: Some letters are much more common in specific positions. S often starts words, E often ends them. Our frequency scoring accounts for this.
- Longer puzzles are harder: A 7-letter puzzle has exponentially more candidates than a 5-letter one. Narrow down vowels first, then focus on consonant clusters.
- Language-specific patterns: German favors SCH- and -UNG endings. French loves -TION and -MENT. Use language knowledge to eliminate faster.
- Double letters: About 20% of answers contain repeated letters. Do not rule this out prematurely.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can this solver handle puzzles longer than 5 letters?
Yes. WordleWonk supports word lengths from 4 to 9 letters. Select your target length from the tabs above the grid. The solver dynamically loads the appropriate word list and resizes the grid to match.
Which languages are supported?
Seven languages: English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, and Romanian. Each uses its own curated dictionary. For 5-letter English, we use the official Wordle guess list of 12,540 words.
Where do non-5-letter word lists come from?
For lengths other than 5 (and for non-English languages), word lists are fetched from our API backed by comprehensive Scrabble-approved dictionaries. These include thousands of valid words per length, cached locally after the first load for instant filtering.
How does the frequency ranking work?
Each word is scored based on English letter frequency (E=12.7%, T=9.1%, A=8.2%, etc.) with penalties for repeated letters and bonuses for common starting/ending patterns. The highest-scoring words represent your statistically strongest next guesses.
